Lego packaging is like a box of chocolates. Not because you wouldn’t know what’s inside—after all, it’s pictured large and wide on the front. But because they share a property with these and with chocolate wrappers1: they’re either factory-sealed shut or practically empty right away.
Now two spaceships are standing in my study: the Enterprise D. For me as a teenager, a weekly glimpse into a world that was less “crap” than mine. And the Lunar Lander from the books I devoured as a child—books about the journey to the moon.
