Land of the proud and the scared

Zbigniew Brzezinski, national security adviser to President Jimmy Carter, wrote an excellent article about a development, that transforms a complete country into a country of scared individuals, afraid of everything that is different: “Terrorized by ‘War on Terror’ - How a Three-Word Mantra Has Undermined America”

Where is the U.S. leader ready to say, "Enough of this hysteria, stop this paranoia"? Even in the face of future terrorist attacks, the likelihood of which cannot be denied, let us show some sense. Let us be true to our traditions.

Perhaps the people in the US should remember the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt:

This great Nation will endure as it has endured, will revive and will prosper. So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.
