The contribution of Sun to opensource

I hear it quite often: “Hey, Sun doesn´t like open source. Look at (other three to five letter company). They gave so much to the community. Why not Sun? Bad, bad Sun”. I´ve heard it so often, i can´t hear it anymore. But the European Community comes to rescue: Page 51 of this research paper tells a different story:
