There is a new flavour of blades at sun. Or to be correct. A new blade chassis. The Sun Blade 8000p Modular Server The blades are the same. It´s not so extensible like the greater one, but you can put three of this beasts into one rack (resulting in 240 cores per Rack). And “not so extensible is very relative. You can still put to network express modules into the system, resulting in 20 GE-Interfaces, or 20 FC-Interfaces … Infiniband … and so on. This system is clearly designed for HPC.
