Chaos

There was a time, when i really liked Linux. I still like Linux, as it´s a kind of Unix. But in the last few years my feeling in the gut gets worser. The problem are the ever diverging roads the community takes in itself. Nice example: Debian integrates OpenVZ, Suse will use XEN and RedHat disses XEN and will present their own solution. And it doesn´t seems as if one virtualization technology will be integrated into the kernel itself anytime soon to set a common standard. At the end, this will lead to an Linux where the distributions are operating systems by itself, as more and more parts diverge. This leads to the fragmentation of the community and thus the reduction of size of the communities and thus loosing the biggest factor in the success of Linux.
